Flexible Working

2. Managing the Work-Life Balance

It is clear that this will give parents the opportunity for work-life balance, greater choice as well as the social and economic advantages of being in employment. This should assist those who have children to return to work and reduce the number of parents who have to leave their jobs to find more flexible ones or who leave the job market entirely. All too often flexible working may not be considered due to the organisation's culture or due to a lack of understanding. This legislation will ensure that employers cannot simply dismiss such requests.

The government predicts that the number of new requests for flexible working will dramatically rise resulting in an increase in the number of people in the labour market.
